Abstimmung zur Beurteilung

German to English Bus/Financial Human Resources
This is a flow chart for probational period assessments. The new employee's coach is supposed to do this at one point. Abstimmung is a simple word but the use of "zur" is making me think I could be missing a nuance.

I have only encountered appraisal in conjunction with a permanent position and not with a probationary period which could lead to termination of the employment relationship.

I would want to use the word appraisal rather than assessment. Do you feel 'appraisal' is only appropriate when the employee has been in the post for longer? To me, 'assessment' sounds a little as though the employee is being tested.

It would probably be helpful if you provided the original text - I still don't quite understand what's going on. Maybe the coach and the regional manager hold different opinions and have to reach an agreement for the final assessment.

Oh and your other question: The coach and the regional manager do the Abstimmung together. But if this were just about "coordinating" the assessment, then why is "zur" used?

Unfortunately this is all I have to go on. The other steps are of little help. They include things like: A receives and fills out form. B sends form to C. C receives form. D holds discussion with E. F participates in a telephone conference.

Meeting to agree assessment

I agree with Brigitte. I could envisage a set-up where the coach (possibly with an HR member) conducts the formal end-of-probation assessment with the "probationer", but has to meet first with the Regional Manager to get the latter's endorsement of what s/he proposes to say and what the logical next step is for the probationer and for the organisation.

agreement on performance appraisal

I think in this case abstimmung could be coming to an agreement between employee and boss on the performance appraisal or content of it
