de ce lamentation: conform DEX: a plânge: a vărsa lacrimi, a lăcrima/ a boci, a jeli/ a-și arăta nemulțumirea, a se văita, a se tângui, a se lamenta. (Cred că, aici, are mai degrabă sensul de a se lamenta..)
a se lamenta = a-și exprima nemulțumirea, suferința, durerea prin cuvinte .
the free dictionary: lamentation = the act of lamenting / lamenting = to express sorrow or regret..
deci.. cred că lamentation este cel mai potrivit însă aștept și alte păreri.

Eu aș sugera Valley of Sorrow și Valley of Joy.
Valley of Sorrow e folosit în engleză.
Bine, pentru asta ar trebui să schimbați puțin termenii inițiali, deci depinde dacă e mai important să sune mai familiar pentru un englez sau să fie mai apropiat de textul sursă.
De altfel, Valley of Lamentation mi se pare o traducere foarte ok
