Adjustment of Stores Discrepancies
Where a stock count discloses a discrepancy between the physical and theoretical stock levels, the inventory records are to be altered as soon as the physical count is verified. This alteration is to be authorised by the relevant stores officer (preferably not the inventory record keeper). Discrepancies are to be investigated and the entries already made to:
(a) write on surplus stores;
(b) write off shortages of stores;
(c) make any other adjustment to those records other than the correction of a proven error,
