hello,
I need to translate the following term about production techniques used during Prehistory for making lithic tools.
El reconocimiento de los tipos de productos (laminas, lascas, labios, galbos, bases, etc.) y de la tecnología empleada para su realización (cadenas operativas líticas, cerámicas, metalúrgicas, etc.) son aspectos clave.
Recognising the product types ( blades, flakes, lips, sherds, bases, etc.) and technology applied in their production (lithic, ceramic, metallurgical chaines operatoires) are key aspects.
I found chaine operatoire but I would like to confirm that this is the right term to be used here since it is an academic paper for the archaeology department of a university. Also, I´m not sure about how the plural would be.

Thanks for your help

lithic chaînes opératoires / lithic operational sequences
The former is probably to be preferred, but the latter is also used and would be perfectly acceptable. "Chaîne opératoire" will be pluralised by following French morphological rules, adding an s to each word. Some people italicise it (as a foreign expression), and personally I'd be inclined to do so, though many don't.

"Archaeological opinion differs over whether variants of Acheulian LCT production fit the criteria for such techno— logical traditions or whether variable lithic operational sequences of Middle Paleolithic antiquity better fit the bill."
