"Si hubiera otorgado capitulaciones matrimoniales, se indicará la fecha de la escritura, lugar..."

This is for a marriage certificate I am reviewing, it was translated as "a divorce", but the Oxford Dictionary says "capitulaciones" is a "marriage contract". Does anyone know which one is correct? GRACIAS!

I would word this carefully because the US has a very retrograde marriage system...

I am not at all sure it is the same as a prenuptial agreement...they are assets/monies SETTLED on the couple at the time of marriage...it could come from the parents on either side...like a wedding gift...

You can see by the paragraph below, that it does not always mean prenup. HEre it is a wedding gift by the parents...don\'t know which country...it would help to know YOUR COUNTRY...I don\'t understand, especially for SP<>ENG translators, that they don\'t get the importance of THE COUNTRY the document comes from...
