Spanish term

prescriptores

Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general)
This appears in data protection texts on several web sites in Spanish, but can't find an equivalent in English.
I don't even know what it refers to. Any ideas?

Tratamiento de datos de proveedores/colaboradores-prescriptores para
dar respuesta a los requerimientos de deuda por terceros (embargos de
créditos comerciales).

Operaciones en los datos de contacto de colaboradores-prescriptores
personas físicas que presten servicios en personas jurídicas.

Many thanks

Discussion

Robert Carter Aug 14, 2018:
@Charles My reasoning is that brokers are generally a more formal arrangement, and there's a well-worn term for them in Spanish - corredores. Admittedly, the context is fairly thin here though.
Karen Rosenberg (asker) Aug 13, 2018:
the field in which the term occurs, in my case, is loss adjusters / insurance

I've found a reference:

http://www.bizkaired.es/evento/preskriptor-se-presenta-en-be...

Does this fit in with 'influencers'? Or is there any other more

Reglamento general de protección de datos -Español las definiciones se encuentran en el artículo 4 pero no pone nada con respecto a 'prescriptores'

prescribers

This means influencers, in other words, people who prescribe or recommend something. In the online world, they are probably called viral market leaders or something trendy like that. For example, "instagrammers"...

They feature in the privacy guidelines for online business because you will often find links on one website which directs you to another, recommended/prescribed one.

Also, yes. Like when banks sell you insurance from another related business.
neutral Robert Carter : I do think you're on the right track, but I wouldn't use "prescribers".

controllers

I can only think of the definition of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of

'controllers, processors, joint controllers'

Check EU GPDR - Definitions

Maybe, it is joint controllers, depending on the context.
Peer comment(s):

neutral patinba : It is not specifically a GDPR term, it refers to the provider of a banking service (someone who "provides a response to third party borrowing requirements" (see context)

Ok, thanks, Patinba! See also discussion, I did not find any equivalent in the RGPD either

word-of-mouth agents

This is not a data protection term as such.

"Prescriptores" are people who recommend a company's services to others. They are sometimes called "prescribers" in English, though this term is not very widely used. "Influencers" is very similar, but there's a slight difference, because influencers (a big phenomenon on social media now) are people whose recommendation has marketing value because they're famous, or at least well known: people have heard of them. But "prescriptores" are not necessarily like that; they're simply people who spread the word and have some sort of beneficial agreement with the company.

I think this falls into the category of what's known as word-of-mouth (WOM) marketing: that's what "prescription" in this sense refers to, and people who do it are called word-of-mouth agents.

"Word-of-mouth marketing (WOMM, WOM marketing), also called word of mouth advertising, differs from naturally occurring word of mouth, in that it is actively influenced or encouraged by organizations (e.g. 'seeding' a message in a networks rewarding regular consumers to engage in WOM, employing WOM 'agents')."

"Prescriptores
BOCA - OREJA"

"3. La importancia del boca-oreja
Según el estudio ““El comportamiento del consumidor online“, entre el 49 y el 62% de los internautas practican la recomendación o WOM (Word of Mouth). Así, los seguidores en las redes sociales son prescriptores: tienen la capacidad de conectarse e influenciar a nuevas audiencias."

"Mobilize your Word-of-Mouth agents. All you have to do is mobilize your advocates and encourage them to engage in your Word-Of-Mouth marketing campaign."

Peer comment(s):

agree Robert Carter : I agree with you and Neil. I believe the word they use now in marketing for "prescriptores" is "champions", e.g. brand champions, product champions, but I'm not sure it would be understood properly here.

Thanks, Robert. Could be; I must admit I'm not sure.

Prescriptor has a variety of meanings, but the context you have provided shows that in this case the job involves working in collaboration with a bank to provide solutions to the borrowing requirements of third parties (requerimientos de deuda por terceros), so this is the only meaning that fits.
