Spanish term

no mostró reacción osteogénica

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) post-sternotomy complicatations after heart surgery
Hello again

I am still translating the article about post-sternotomy complications in children.

I am unable to find "osteogenic reaction" anywhere and would appreciate some help with this phrase.

Here is the context, and my attempt at a translation follows:

La gammagrafia ósea con doble trazador (Ga67 y Tc99) no mostró ****reacción osteogénica**** pero era muy sugestiva de infección local afectando a hueso esternal.
Los hemocultivos fueron estériles y los cultivos de la herida fueron positivos a S. Aureus y S. Epidermidis, ambos sensibles a oxaciclina.

A double-tracer (Ga67 and Tc99) bone scan did not reveal any ****osteogenic reaction**** but strongly suggested a local infection affecting the sternal bone. Blood cultures were sterile and wound cultures were positive for S. Aureus and S. Epidermidis; both were sensitive to oxytetracycline

Thank you!

Please keep your "eye in" in future too!
Roxanna Delgado Sep 7, 2010:
Glad I was able to help you, Liz. I have that way of reading everything and noticing things that have nothing to do with what is being asked!

Hello Roxanna, have just heard back from the client who confirms it is a typo for "oxacillin". Now that clears up a problem:)
Roxanna Delgado Sep 7, 2010:
You're very welcome, Liz. But be careful! My point is that it has not to do with the tetracycline family but with the penicillin family, so it'd be "oxacillin" and not "oxacycline".

Roxanna: I have queried this with the client. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
liz askew (asker) Sep 7, 2010:
This is where I got it: Oxacycline (Oxytetracycline)
Oxacycline active ingredients names and forms, pharmaceutical companies, indications and usages, online pharmacy health products information.

Glad you mentioned that, don't know how I managed that...I will now put "oxacycline". Thanks a bunch!
liz askew (asker) Sep 7, 2010:
Thanks for your comment Roxanna...yes I remember looking this up and finding oxytetracycline, but I am taking your comments on board and am just re-checking. Will get back to you - saludos!
Roxanna Delgado Sep 7, 2010:
Oxaciclina or Oxacilina Hi Liz. Just a side comment. Are you sure that it is " Oxaciclina"? Most likely "oxacilina" which is "oxacillin". "Oxytetracycline" is "oxitetraciclina". They belong to different families of antibiotics.
