I did a bit of research on this term and would like to take you through what I have found. I am guessing only though, so be patient with me :)
First I searched the term "accumulations" and this is what I came up with:
accumulation
"In property and casualty insurance, refers to the total combined risks that could be involved in a single loss event (involving one or more insured perils)."
so from here I started searching things like "analisi dei rischi assicurativi" or "totale rischi assicurativi" etc etc.
so from here I found a power point slide show that explains these "aggregazioni" and it seemed to me like I was getting close to what you are looking for, which is "the total amount of risk in providing insurance within a certain geographical area". the slide talks about loss exposure too etc.
anyway, I think you might find the following link useful:
www.ordineattuari.it/upload/Documenti/CrencaAIV2007.ppt
I really hope this helps!

Note from asker:
Thank you a very welcome help at thi hour of the night! (3.15 am here). I had a vague idea that it involved more than one risk or more than one claim. |
