I tried to find this term in MetMalaysia but no success. How to differentiate showers from rain?

As the meaning, shower can vary in intensity. So, regardless it is heavy rain or drizzle, shower occurs in a short period of time.
In Malay, it is hujan lari=hujan lalu=hujan halau mentua
