My name is Vas Zoumpos.
I have been a translator/interpreter of English<=>Greek for 14 years, since 2002, when I took my first job as an interpreter/translator at the International Mathematical Olympiad that took place in Glasgow, UK that year.
I was born and raised in Greece but I have lived in England for 9 years, where I studied for my university education and worked as a civil engineer in construction sites and as a mathematics teacher in secondary schools in London.
I have completed all my university education in the UK:
- Bachelor in Engineering (BEng) in Civil Engineering from Coventry University in 2001.
- Master of Science (MSc) in Civil Engineering from the University of Brighton in 2002.
- Master of Arts (MA) in International Political Economy from the University of Leeds in 2003.
- Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Mathematics from Middlesex University in 2009.
I am bilingual, since my mother language is Greek and I have a full professional and bilingual level proficiency in English.
I hold a Certificate of Proficiency in English (C2 Level) with Grade A since 2005 from the University of Cambridge, UK.
Furthermore, I am a Certified English Teacher from the Greek Ministry of Education since 2012.
I also speak basic French and hold a DELF Α2 Certificate from the French Ministry of Education and the French Institute in Greece.
I have worked as an English teacher in Greece for 5 years.
I have been reading English and Greek literature as well as contemporary newspapers in both languages for over 20 years.
