Hadn't seen your remark about significant. You have been really helpful, Rita. Thanks.
RHELLER Jul 3, 2005:
there is a nuance of indecision, lack of enthusiasm (doom is absolutely negative)
Non-ProZ.com Jul 3, 2005:
Is there a nuance of that doom in the momentous sentence or is it my implication only?
RHELLER Jul 3, 2005:
focus on the word significant because it has major implications but the situation is complex, so no easy emotions.
RHELLER Jul 3, 2005:
thanks for explanation - basically, this is a dilemma with no solution. Either she remains free and her children can die or cause others to die OR they can remain locked up forever. No wonder she is not celebrating. Neither eventuality is a happy one.
Non-ProZ.com Jul 3, 2005:
Is it interesting? :)Something like that. Holly and her children are carriers of a very dangerous virus
that could reappear if they somehow meet an extremely rare antigen. They were suppposed to be locked in a research center forever. So she ran away because she wanted her children to have a normal life.
RHELLER Jul 3, 2005:
what is going to happen to Holly? will she go to prison?
Non-ProZ.com Jul 3, 2005:
Is it possible that momentous is great news for a short time because she
knows her duty as an army officer is to report Holly being alive and to give away her whereabouts? That surely spoils her happiness. Or it is only wonderful news of great importance?
RHELLER Jul 3, 2005:
finding out a friend is alive is dramatic and wonderful - people cry, scream, jump up and down - maybe she was too tired? too upset?
Non-ProZ.com Jul 3, 2005:
Thanks, Rita.
Holly is her friend, so I guess she should be happy about it, but
at the same time she must report the fact to the authorities and she doesn't really wants to since she is disappointed with them. Does it fit?

it should have been a very big deal but for some reason this person doesn't feel it - doesn't feel like reacting

Thank you Mihaela :)
agree Kim Metzger : News to celebrate - news takes no article, just as we don't speak of "a" software.

absolutely right :) always rushing Kim :) Thank you :)
agree Kirill Semenov : t felt like a great news. In fact, it should be felt like a most important news: she might die, still she was alive. But it seems she was too exhausted to do anything more or even to move ;-)
