What is the meaning of stabling of trains?

English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping Train terminology
There are minor adjustments due to changes to the overnight stabling of trains. There will be a more comprehensive timetable change in 2006 after the Bondi Junction train turnback facility has been completed.

Robert Donahue (X) Aug 19, 2005:
Adda...not to push you or anything, but you are allowed to grade these questions yourself. It's quite a bit nicer to have you as the Asker do it rather than letting it be done by the robot. : )

Thanks. Great metaphor, giving me a headache.

The largest depot is at Morden while most maintenance and overhaul work is performed at Golders Green. Additional sidings at Highgate, Edgware and High Barnet

parking

stabling is the technical term used for trains in the same way as you would say "to park a car".
It means putting them on special sets of sidings in the garage areas near stations
