What is subject to accreditation? The course? Could it be a synonim for certification?

awaiting approval from a professional body

Without more context it's difficult to be sure, but it could be saying that courses that are marked with this symbol have yet to be accredited (i.e. to receive approval from an external body). It may that the course will not be held if accreditation is not granted.

Professional bodies (e.g. in law, accountancy) may "accredit" certain courses which lead up to the appropriate professional exams - that is, they recognise those courses as being of the required standard and quality. Such accreditation may be being awaited in this case.
Peer comment(s):

agree jccantrell : In the USA, they accredit the whole school, not just one subject. Then, the diplomas awarded by the school are recognized by other schools and employers.

agree Michael Barnett : This can apply to individual courses as well. Doctors, for example, take 1 day refresher courses which, if accredited, can be used as evidence of continuing medical education for licensing purposes.
