If someone did something and then, as the results of his action, wants to jump the fence: does it mean they want to commit suicide or move on?

: My understanding is that the person wants to change to the opposite side. When someone is "on the fence", it means he isn't sure which position to side with.//Thus, he has taken one position and wants to switch.

Thanks, Ruth. I agree w/your understanding of "on the fence". However, I thought one "jumped the fence" from a position "on the ground on one side of the fence"//Of course. That's 1 meaning. Another is just getting out of a situation
