Though it might be as common to refer to someone who works in autobody repair as a rebuider, the context you've provided makes me wonder why a mechanic specializing in rebuilding engines be painting, as well. It's possible, but perhaps not very common...

Rebuilder has to do with engines rather that bodywork in the the States. Asi que nada de hojalata. jejejeje

It might be a bodyshop specialist. This is what they're called in Spain, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, respectively.

As for "reconstructor," it's interesting to note the potentially non-native nature of the sources Julio Arturo has cited, which include a Google Directory and a website from the UK. As for "chapista," "desabollador" and "hojalatero," these are what I have heard first-hand (de la gente que trabaja en la chapistería, desabolladuría y hojalatería en Madrid, Santo Domingo y San Juan, respectivamente).
