English term

data logs vs. data records

English to Spanish Tech/Engineering Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
Hello, I have a text in which all the responsabilities of a position are described. One of these responsabilities says "Control and maintain all data logs/records"

All I have found is "registro de datos" but I think that there must be a difference between them.

How do you translate these two phrases?

Thanks a lot!!

bitácoras de datos / registros de datos

I work at Canon Inc., and we translate "logs" as "bitácoras" (meaning the data logs about the number of prints/copies made, etc.)

I think the difference could be that a log comprises many records, whereas one record could be a single line of data.

Hope that helps :)
