English term

To lose out to the competition

English to Italian Marketing Advertising / Public Relations Branding
In this internet age, currently with around 15 brands globally, we are competing with ourselves online for first place and will lose out to the competition longer term.

We're talking about a global company that has just changed its global brand. The above mentioned sentence is one of the reason:

Why are we undertaking this branding initiative?
· The aim of the branding initiative is to create a powerful master brand enabling us to develop a global strategy that will drive growth and marketing effectiveness.
· It will more effectively integrate our 11 year sustainability track record into our product and service categories and thus increase our brand “equity”.
· ******In this internet age, currently with around 15 brands globally, we are competing with ourselves online for first place and will lose out to the competition longer term*****.

Thanks loads for helping me understand this sentence.

my suggestion

Laura, I think the writer is posing a problem to justify a solution.
They need to incorporate all their brands under one new 'banner', as it were, in order to avoid fragmentation and not lose out to the competition, since their brands are now paradoxixally competig with each other.

Buon lavoro!

The sentence isnt that clear, is it? However, think you're right, Irene. Thanks!

sconfitti, battuti .... non significa scavalcati ?
Note from asker:
confermi?
