In meinem Übersetzungsvorschlag habe ich diesen Aspekt auch übersehen.

Natürlich heißt es "Eisen im Feuer haben" (ohne Adjektiv). Hier soll aber betont werden, dass es "ganz besondere" Eisen, eben "heiße" Eisen sind. Das sollte die Übersetzung auch reflektieren.
