Examples are studies of developing a mobile phone with advanced features for the American market or the business implications of reducing the cost margin of software development.

Mein Kunde hat folgende Erläuterung (die mir auch nicht weitergeholfen hat) mitgeliefert:

Packaged: Packaged study in the sense of "collection" of
information or a "package" of information.

It is used in the sense of "the study is a group of packaged topics of information." Not a group of people or similar.
