Hair Iron or Hair Curler

"Babyliss" is a brand name for various hair irons, hair stylers, hair curlers... which is used in Iran to refer to all of them (exacyly like the case of "Kleenex" in Iran which we use for all sorts of tissues)

See their website:

hair curler

"Babyliss" is a brand name which is generally used in Farsi for hair curler. You may also consider "hair iron" (sometimes called اتوی مو in Farsi) , "hair styler", "hair waver" and "styling iron"...
Peer comment(s):

agree DR Maryam Taghavi : In all the catalogues in UK they use hair stylers (as Mr Koleili hhas mentioned). Then, under the general category of hair stylers, they use straighteners, Hot air brushes, hair curlers, etc. So it really depends on the context.

Electric hair curler / Curling iron

"Curling iron" = bAbilis

"Hair curler" = bigudi , bAbilis

"Electric hair curler" = bAbilis

In this particualr case - as indicated " mupich <<yA>> bAbilis" - either "hair curler" or "curling iron" is correct as they are the devices to "curl" the hair.

If using "hair curler", one should use "electric hair curler" here as the normal hair curler is called "bigudi" in Persian and not "bAbilis".

agree Edward Plaisance Jr : Good distinction on "bigudi". BTW, "bigudi" is a trade name like "babilis". The company was B. Goody, now simply Goody.
