I think it is clear that the author took the train from Partis, hired a car from the station and left said car at Quiberon. In this case, the tciket is an offer which includes train travel and car hire.

I find it very hard to believe that someone would take their car on the train from Paris just for the drive between Auray and Quiberon, all of 30 km... I wonder if 'auto' isn't 'autocar'?

: FYI - the equivalent of "motorail" in French is "train auto" in marketing terms// train auto and auto train - both exist. Admittedly "train =auto" maybe a little out of date but it remains valid

SNCF calls it a 'billet train/auto'//sorry, it's the other way round 'billet auto/train'//indeed, but if you look at the article, it doesn't make sense...

: explanations re 'motorail' seem perhaps too literal a translation when the idea is that as CMJ_Trans says, you don't just go charging off// indeed! mystère! BTW,never heard 'auto' used for autocar, only 'car';auto = usually ' a motor'(car)

thanks, I still don't understand why this person would either take or hire a car on arrival because the train operator puts on a shuttle bus to the ferry terminal?//me neither, but anything is possible!
