often to be found in license agreements, warranties and similar texts in the form "xxx-companyname (d/b/a yyy-companyname) is a NYC based company blah blah..."

NOTE: I don't beleive there is a legal German equivalent so I would not translate it if this translation has any legal connections but add a note. The closest German verb is "firmieren" (doing business under the name, so if the translation is for information only you could use that.)

"doing business as" ist amerikanische Rechtsform, vermutlich besser nicht übersetzen, siehe Referenz unten.
