Discussion

Caryl Swift Jun 16, 2007:
In fact, in the UK, 'parish' is not simply an ecclesiastical area of administration, but also a political one

Iwona Szymaniak Jun 16, 2007:
I guess it cannot be anything else and someone just had an original idea to use a church or religious term to describe an administrative unit. I know our "gmina" can cause a lot of confusion but it is the 1st time I've seen it translated this way.
boozak (X) (asker) Jun 16, 2007:
the text mentions water plant in Poland
Caryl Swift Jun 16, 2007:
Ok, thank you. Could you tell us where this will be? In which country, for example
boozak (X) (asker) Jun 16, 2007:
In this water plant will be added some new components such as: three new well pumps, four new filters, one intermediate pump, five additional booster pumps for pumping clean water to next parish, new flowmeter of clean water for new booster pump.
Caryl Swift Jun 16, 2007:
@ SzIwonka: precisely what I was wondering.
@ boozak: there's a typo above - it should say 'where it's taKing place' - sorry about that.
Caryl Swift Jun 16, 2007:
Could you give us some idea of what the text is about, please, e.g. what the project is and where it's taling place? What kind of text is it?
Iwona Szymaniak Jun 16, 2007:
A to jest na pewno tekst z kraju angielskojęzycznego?
boozak (X) (asker) Jun 16, 2007:
to next parish
Caryl Swift Jun 16, 2007:
Does the original say 'to next parish' or 'to THE next parish'?

agree M.A.B. : Na terenie jednej gminy jest na ogół wiele parafii, więc to chyba najlepsze. Choć szczerze mówiąc ktoś nieźle zaszalał!

The thing is, of course, that in the UK, it would be perfectly ok-a parish is an adminstrative unit with its own council etc. Thank you :-)
neutral Polangmar : Sołectwo tylko w przypadku inwestycji na terenie wiejskim - w mieście byłoby to osiedle/dzielnica. I nie wiemy, czy ten/ta/to "parish" posiada samorząd.:)

gmina

@Caryl, if we assume that a county corresponds to a powiat, what would parish correspond to if the next closest is a gmina, and a solectwo is the lowest in this hierarchy?
