German term

dezidierte Darstellung

German to English Bus/Financial Accounting Annual Report
Full sentence: Folglich wurde auf eine dezidierte Darstellung in der Segmentberichterstattung verzichtet.

Can anybody help me along with this on this hot summer day?

Many thanks!

Context/readership? What are your own thoughts?
gwm (asker) Aug 5, 2007:
ooops - should have been 'maybe' of course..
gwm (asker) Aug 5, 2007:
May I should have added the sentence before as well:
In diesem Geschäftsbereich gab es im Berichtszeitraum keinen Geschäftsvorfall und auch keine zugehörigen Vermögenswerte und Schulden. Folglich wurde auf eine dezidierte Darstellung in der Segmentberichterstattung verzichtet.

separate presentation

Irrespective of the mistake in the German, it simply means that this 'Geschäftsbereich' (division, business unit, or whatever) isn't presented separately in the segment reporting because it didn't conduct any transactions or have any assets or liabilities.
Note from asker:
Many thanks, Robin ( also for your great 'German Financial Accounting and Reporting', which I always find helpful!). That makes sense!

agree Kim Metzger : So now we have it from the horse's mouth.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I am just resurfacing after a dreadful stomach bug (while trying to get this translation off my desk). Many thanks Robin - I used 'separate or specific presentation' in the end! Many thanks to eveybody else for their input and showing so much spirit and enthusiams for such a dreary subject! Much appreciated!"

conclusive presentation

Since dezidieren means beschließen, entscheiden.

But dedizieren doesn't mean detailed. It's a final, conclusive or definitive version. They seem to be saying it's still a draft, not finalized and approved.
Note from asker:
Many thanks Kim - also for the reference! On a website I came across this 'detailed presentation of segment results'
Many thanks, Richard - maybe that's why I was stumped!
Peer comment(s):

agree Richard Benham : Hello. I am wondering rather whether this is a typo for "dediziert" (easy enough: you have "dedizieren" above): they didn't bother with a presentation devoted to something that didn't happen in the period.

Now dediziert would make sense: bekundgeben, überliefern. They omitted the otherwise customary presentation./I didn't even realize I had looked up dediziert.
