series of courses
or series of workshops.
I´m not sure if I would use "seminar" here.

Note from asker:
Vielen Dank. |

: "Courses" is okay, but not "workshops", in my opinion. I think "workshops" are something different.

course
I think in this context "course" in itself would automatically mean a series of talks/seminars, etc.

course sequence
serie/s would not really be used

: sorry, but it's definitely "series" in this context. "Sequence" would be incorrect.

series of seminars / seminar series
... should get the meaning across.

"A ***series of seminars*** which debated key issues, approaches and policies around home-school-community links, informal learning and the use of digital technologies. Presentations were given by experts in the field and these were followed and enhanced by full audience discussions. The seminar audience was made up of a mixture of people working in the field of policy, research and practice."

"Security ***Seminar Series***
The Security Research Group organises the Security ***Seminar Series*** with invited speakers on selected topics of broad interest. These seminars are open for attendance to anyone interested in security research, not only to members of the university."

"The Principal Investigators Institute: A ***Series of Seminars*** about Sponsored Research Services
The PI Institute is a ***series of seminars*** that will give prospective and current Principal Investigators (PI's) an understanding of the issues and topics of sponsored funding and research administration. Interactive seminars will allow an opportunity for PI's to exchange ideas with others about the funding process and grants management."

Note to Beatriz Galiano - no matter how you argue, "lecture" is not a synonym of "seminar".

: I was already wondering why the word "seminar" shouldn't be used - I think it's perfectly alright in this context.

: also can't see the problem - clearly not "courses," as the topic is too specific and it's not a school setting.

What is more, at University level, Professors and Doctors, are supposed to 'lecture'.
I even have a booklet from Mount Holyoke College where I studied in 1992-3 with a choice of extra-curricular lectures about all kind of subjects. Also, lecture sounds less German than seminar, now that I think.

: I think it depends on the form of the events. In the UK, a "lecture" is an event at which a professor talks "at" a (larger) group of students, often with little/no interaction with them. Outside a university, a"lecture" is a talk with little interaction.
