この言葉は私はあまり使わないのですが、検索すると結構ヒットしました。
どのような文脈で使われるかによって、また、書く人の背景などによっても微妙に違ってくるとは思います。

今回の場合は、製造の現場や仕事の場で、日常と少しでも違うことが起こった時に敏感に気がつくことができる力、というような意味合いで使われています。(品質管理研修テキスト)

うまい表現が思いつきません。ご教示よろしくお願いします~

この「気付き」というのは、何かをじっくり観察するというよりは、直感的に感じる感覚だと思いました(あ、機械の音がいつもと違うな・・など)。

This is just one of many options, but it sounds natural, and I have often used this while interpreting "lean manufacturing" trainings. Its an important part of learning the knack for tribal knowledge that expert operators have for doing quality assurance and other jobs on the shop floor.

agree AniseK : I used it too. It is more than observation, it is more like these qc operators just seem to 'know' that there is something off with the product just by looking or picking it up.
