Spanish to English Science IT (Information Technology)
Bibliography of a chapter of a book that I'm translating. I might be being thick here. What is the difference? No more context sorry, as these are the titles for the Bibliography. For UK audience, and thanks very much in advance for your help. :)

Actually (thinking back a few decades... :( ) we had a 3-tier scheme:
- referenced works
- works consulted
- other publications

where 'referenced works' were those that were actually quoted in the article.

Reference works used vs. Reference works determined to exist

As I understand it, the "consultadas" means that there is something in the derivative work that can actually be traced back to one of the "obras consultadas". However, the author undoubtedly read other books and these are "encontradas", which are useful, but weren't specifically quoted.

I consulted countless reference books, queried experts on dangerous marine creatures.
But nothing coincided with my wife's wound or subsequent symptoms. ...
