Discussion

Muriel Vasconcellos Sep 13, 2008:
Actually, we are supposed to award the most "helpful" answer. My answers took a little longer because I was providing documentation. So I think I deserve to have my answer selected!
NadineDudley (asker) Sep 13, 2008:
Thanks! I'll make double sure from now on. I guess we learn from our gaffs!

Carlos Sorzano Sep 13, 2008:
Its OK. Has happened to me too.
Have a nice day
NadineDudley (asker) Sep 13, 2008:
clarification Carlos,
I am terribly sorry, I actually meant to award you the points since you were the firstto answer, but when I did so last night I honestly made a mistake an placed it on Mariels. I then tried to change it but the system would not let me. If you know how I can still award you points please let me know. I believed I was placing it on your since it was posted first, but it was actually Mariels. - Nadine
Carlos Sorzano Sep 13, 2008:
Well, I see the question is closed. I answered first and accurately, gave an explanation, but Muriel got the Kudoz points. I don't understand. You are free to award anyone, but I just think it is not fair. Thanks.

Retroplacental Hematoma and
Abruptio Placentae
Bleeding along the basal plate of the placenta,
separating it from the underlying uterine
wall, may result from primary abruptio placentae
or ruptured spiral arteries.

Sonographically, the retroplacental hematoma
may mimic a thickened placenta because the hematoma
is commonly isoechoic to the placenta.
Otherwise, the retroplacental hematoma may be
hypoechoic or may be of heterogeneous echogenicity
(Fig. 10). Because of the low sensitivity of
sonography in detecting small retroplacental or
submembranous hematomas or the occasional
absence of bleeding with placental abruption,
negative sonographic findings do not rule out the
presence of placental abruption
