reanimation (room)

Reanimation and revivification are both translations of reanimation. However, in the context of a hospital room, the translation should be "reanimation room".

critical/intensive care unit

This is not where patients go to recover from anaethsesia but where the most critically ill or injured patients are taken for emergency treatment. I say this because I used to have a lot of dealings, including translating work, with the head of the unit of this name in Grenoble's main hospital.

agree olganet : absolutely! ICU is the acronym/ see a very cood explanation @ http://www.antrimicu.org/5073.html

Recovery room

The recovery room is the one I was in last Thursday, where they generally make a lot of noise and try and wake you up after a general anaesthetic (just as you want to go back to sleep, of course <g> !)

There have been suggestions that it is a resuscitation room, but I can\'t believe that such a place exists. If you are about to conk out, they aren\'t going to move you to a separate room to apply the 50,000 volts; they\'ll do it on the spot.
