Swedish term

spindeln i nätet

Swedish to English Marketing Advertising / Public Relations Informatör, marknadsföring
I'm looking for a BETTER translation for this very common Swedish expression.

I've used "acting as a hub" when referring to an organization/company/department, but in Swedish more often than not, this expression refers to an individual.

In another forum (IDG eforum) "at the heart of things" has been suggested and a collegue thought "central connection point" but this sounds entirely too network-orientated for my taste.

Answer in Swedish or English ok.

spider in the web

What can be a better translation?
Peer comment(s):

agree Charlotte Merton : Always needs an article though, 'the spider in the net' / 'a spider in the net'. Google for masses of UK and US examples.

"at the junction" or "core"

I offer these suggestions because it really is about finding an idiomatic phrase that fits. Perhaps some of the other content will suggest something also that can be tied to this phrase, therefore making it congruent to the whole piece of text.
