Please consider my under discussions. I found additional references for "lang übersetzt" (high gear) and "kurz übersetzt" (low gear).
The chosen answer "creeper gear" is wrong, acc. MHO and refers to differents subjects.

comment # 2 With Cox. Direkt heißt Antriebsstrang ohne Übersetzung, also gleiche Drehzahl von Kurbelwelle und Antriebswelle.

comment IMO you're parsing this wrong: the relevant terms are 'direkt übersetzter Gang'(= direct drive, 1:1 gear ratio) and 'kurz übersetzter Gang' (low(er) gear or reduced gear ratio)
