The proper spelling is "gecommitterde" and describes the function of an "official observer" during examinations. Van Dale geeft als alternatief "gemachtigd toeziener". Het begrip "authorised examiner" komt hier het dichtst bij, en wordt in het Engels, misschien niet exact in deze context, gebruikt bij verschillende soorten examens.
