The function of the diverter module (Figure 9) is to divert poor-quality or damaged currency into the diverter cassette before they can be delivered to the consumer. <snip> When the problem currency or media has been diverted, the solenoid is energized, the diverter gate moves out of the currency or media path, and normal dispensing resumes.
