Italian term
ceppo
Italian to English
Other
Wine / Oenology / Viticulture
Another wine term! This time relating to the "ceppo" of the "vitigno"; i.e. what is planted I believe.
La produzione massima di uve non deve essere in media superiore a kg 3,00 per ceppo.
I can visualise this in my head but can't find a term for it. "Strain", "strand", "individual plant", simply "plant"?
Would appreciate your help.

: "per vine" is correct. "Per plant" is only rarely seen.

stump
In this case, I think it means that each "root system" or "plant", as you thought, should produce on average 3 Kg of grapes. So, in this context, "ceppo" is the stump.

Rootstock
It is the disease resistant plant on which the less resistant desired variety is grafted

strain
at least that's what it most definitely is in plant eugenics – a genotype of a genotype of the subspecies, so to speak.

I think this settles it. There are many more examples on google.
