Your definition is pretty much the same as that for "congiunturale" in Italian, however, you will never hear native English speaking economists or journalists talking of the "economic conjuncture" and if the term is used in demographics, only the very highly specialised in demograhphics will understand it.

In demography (and economics I think), "conjunctural" implies figures for the same period/point in time arrived at by different means that corroborate each other. That's my understanding, in any case. Certainly, if there is doubt about the meaning, it is best to paraphrase as you have. IMO it never means "cyclical". The IATE dictionary must be used with discretion. It is merely a working tool (sort of TM) for EU institution translators and is not systematically verified.

I've read your link, which seems sound. However, having read the Oxford dictionary definition, the question is just what does it mean in the context of your link. Bruna's link is a translation from French I imagine, and I persnonally would never use "conjunctural" in an economic of financial context to translate congiunturale, however it seems the word is used in demographics.
