rhymes and verse I think wordplay gives the same problem as jingle in the sense that it has a different meaning. A wordplay normally has a word with different meanings. That is not the case with "ordregle". What about simply writing "rhymes and verse" ?

A "jingle" in American usage is a piece of musical fluff typically used to sell a product in a commercial advertisement on TV or radio. An American rapper would almost certainly feel insulted by having his or her work associated with a "jingle lyric". The Google hits for "rap"+"jingle" are entirely different in character from those for "rap+"wordplay".

I also understand that it is "ordregle" that is actually to be translated here. But using "jingle" in the rap context is entirely inappropriate in the U.S. "Wordplay" does at least have wide usage in this context, e.g., there are 398,000 Google hits for "rap" + "wordplay".

Audience? What's the audience for this translation? I'm not disagreeing with the translation of ordregel into jingle per se, but a text about rap music that would include the word "jingle" is wrong to my American ears. :)
