Italian term

immettono nella rete interconnessa

Discussion

James (Jim) Davis Feb 18, 2010:
Feed-in and supply I'm tired of changing my post. Having read Pauley's wiki post, I see that feed-in is for independent generators and is not to be confused with net metering and consumers with solar panels on their roofs. Hence SHOULD BE "feed-in", my original post.
Paul O'Brien Feb 18, 2010:
however, i like this reference here, which is also useful for anyone who disagrees with the use of "grid": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feed-in_tariff
Paul O'Brien Feb 18, 2010:
yeah that's a point.
James (Jim) Davis Feb 18, 2010:
Feed or supply Well unless I'm mistaken feed-in generally used for people with solar panels on their roofs, who consume but also supply through the same connection, but here we are talking "nuovi produttori" which presumably could be major windpower or hydroelectric plants which would just "supply" the national grid in the ordinary way.
Paul O'Brien Feb 18, 2010:
power generation? shouldn't this be a power generation question, and not a finance one?

feed electricity into connected grids

Large "reti di elettrici" like these are called "grids".

On second thoughts "supply to" might be better than "feed into", which is of course Kira's post.

On third thoughts, Phil has rightly pointed out that "rete" is singular. Therefore correction: "Supply electricity into the grid", where the "rete interconnessa" is a national of very large grid. Or better "supply the grid with electricity generated from...

The reasoning on this one (and Googling) is that a "rete interconnessa" is just a long way of saying network of "grid" in this case (all networks are interconnected by definition and if they are connected to other networks then they are just a bigger network , like the internet, network of networks)

agree Paul O'Brien : feed, coz you've got your "feed-in tariff" (conto energia).

Huh, you're dead right.

pump into the interconnected network

tanto per non usare input, put in, ecc.
Peer comment(s):

disagree philgoddard : You pump gas or fluid, but not electricity.

who says that? you can sure pump elecricity, or energy, or anything else... you can pump confidence, it doesn't have to be a literal sense...

introduce (electricity) in the interconnected network

per integrare nuovi produttori che immettono nella rete interconnessa elettricità prodotta da fonti energetiche rinnovabili.

To my understanding:
An initiative for "newcomers" (produttori : producing industries-suppliers) to introduce (supply is ok but I think the meaning here is to introduce+supply; it refers to something new, alternative means of energy) electricity deriving from renewable energy resources.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Paul O'Brien : i'm for input or feed-in, and it's grid, not network, in my view.

input into the electricity distribution network

new producers that input electricity produced from renewable energy sources into the distribution network

References for 'electricity distribution network'. I agree that grid can be used but this seems a UK specific term. National Grid is the name of a company and even on their site they refer to networks http://www.nationalgrid.com/uk/Electricity/AboutElectricity/...

neutral Paul O'Brien : okay on input (though i prefer feed-inn), but it's grid, and not network here, in my view.

agree philgoddard : "Interconnected network" gets a lot more Google hits than "interconnected grid" in an electricity context.

I think this ref is useful for terminology, and suggests that feed-in is applicable not just for photovoltaics.
