Yes, I think that is what the seller was trying to do, but in fact the product XXX was not manufactured by YYY but by a third Company to whom the letter I'm translating is addressed.

Just to throw a stone in the pond, could it be that the seller wants to make sure that the name remains bound (vincolato) to the product and the product is sold under that name? Sort of a trademark.
