Ancora sotto l'influsso

Italian to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting art history project for a
HI, many thanks in advance.
in English you say "under the influence of drugs" not someone.
So, "Caravaggio's paingting left an impression on the painter of the Master of still life, Acquavella, we can see it from his painting style..

Considerable importance is given on the subject of Caravaggio, to the so called “Pensionante del Saraceni”, an artist close to the Venetian Carlo Saraceni, who was himself active in the still life genre, which was represented in the collections with the famous still life of fruit with a jug, which at one point Roberto Longhi * attributed to Caravaggio himself. Caravaggio's paingting left an impression on the painter of the Master of still life, Acquavella, we can see it from his painting style, who was tentatively identitified as Bartolomeo Cavarozzi.
Change log

Nov 24, 2010 14:48: changed "Kudoz queue" from "In queue" to "Public"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Jim Tucker (X)

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

stephanie Foulkes (asker) Nov 24, 2010:
ok. I had problems understanding this sentence. I posted a question about "In ambito Caravaggesco".
Jim Tucker (X) Nov 24, 2010:
+1 for example "in ambito caravaggesco" is "in Caravaggist circles" or the like; "va riservata" is not a simple passive but "must be accorded to"
Tom in London Nov 24, 2010:
I agree ...with Phil - hopefully this translation is still at the draft stage.
philgoddard Nov 24, 2010:
Stephanie - do check this translation carefully, as there are a lot of mistakes in it. Also, you need to break down the long Italian sentences into shorter ones.

I read this as the introduction to the mention of another artist who, like those mentioned earlier in the text, has also been influenced by Caravaggio. Using "still" to start the sentence might contain a faint whiff of an Italianism creeping in, IMHO best avoided.
