Portuguese term

Escoamento de ( no contexto)

Portuguese to English Tech/Engineering Petroleum Eng/Sci terminology -
Another sub heading for a paper on Oil Transport in the Bacia de Santos.
Can someone give me inspiration for the correct translation of "Escoamento"here.
I am inclined to leave it out and simply say, "The Production System for Petroleum and Natural Gas in......etc".
But I have a sneaking suspicion that there is a technical name for this which has slipped me by.

Sistema de Produção e Escoamento de Gás Natural
e Petróleo – Pólo BS-500 - Bacia de Santos

Neither Venting not Spreading The first one is keeping with the wrong idea that "escoamento" in this context refers to the actual physical movement of the fluid, be it liquid or gas. In fact, were this the desired sense, a different verb would be called for, since the fluid in question is valuable and "escoar" tends to have a connotation of waste. (Please note the qualification "tends to have". After all connotations are pretty much subjective, some contrarian might well want to argue that this is not always the meaning, etc. Well, so mmuch for that)

The term "Escoamento" in the sense of distribution is standard and long-established terminology (at least in Brazil), especially when coupled with "Produção", and it may refer to any kind of product or goods, not only to fluids. Here is but one example (your favorite search engine will supply many more):

As for spreading, there is virtually no way "escoar" can be shoehorned into "spread". The paper may well refer to spills and such (even though gas is not usually a spill concern) but the title does not refer to it.

I think I may have led people up the garden path on this a bit.
In my haste to get a grip on the title of the work, I should have noted and advised that the Transport, with the contect of this paper was in relation to spreading (as in an oil spill), ie transportation of a mass of contamiants not in the physical or mechanical contenxt of transport. Sorry for the confusion and my thanks for all th einput. I am now thinking on the lines of "Spreading" or even plain "Transportation", but this will leave that confusion in the title that it is about Gas and Oil Transportation on ships etc????

Idea! As its gas how about VENTING!

System for the production and dispatch of natural gas

I imagine the exact meaning of 'escoamento' will be clear from the text follows the sub-heading.
One likely option is that it refers to the systems used to get gas from the production facility out to the consumers (or at least, for example, onto the ships or into the pipelines that will carry it to consumer countries).

Distribution of (in the context)

True enough the basic sense of the verb "escoar" is "outflow". However, in this context, "escoamento" is synonymous with "distribuição", and it makes sense, because it is what you need to (among other ends) avoid a glut at the production point.

I see that, while I was composing the explanation, Nick Taylor took a (actually more than one) stab at it, and one of his attempts was the correct answer. However, if I may, I will let this answer stand because of the explanation.

I guess I shouldn't be expecting an actual objective explanation rather the vague, and subjective, "doesn't make the grade".
