Spanish term

Se observa que "la representación se ajusta en gran medida a una línea recta"

Spanish to English Science Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng
This refers to a line on an X-Y graph of amounts of copper in a semiconductor. The "line" is more or less straight.

"the graph fits a straight line" doesn't sound right to me.

Thanks for your help.

We see that the data largely fits a straight line.

There are lots of ways of saying it, but 'fits' sounds right to me.

agree Ron Hartong PhD (X) : The only thing I would change is "We see" to "It can be seen"

Thanks. You're right that passive is often appropriate in scientific writing.
