Spanish term

Banco de Plaza

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
Can anybody shed light on what a "Banco de Plaza" is? We're not talking a garden bench here! We're talking about a guarantee from this type of bank and is in a draft contract for the supply of services.

"...por medio de una Garantía Bancaria Solidaria de un Banco de Plaza, o una Póliza de Seguros equivalente al 10%..."

It's in a document from Paraguay and I can find other documents with the same phrase, but none that explain what it is.... ideas anyone?

Thanks

Local bank

In general terms, a "banco de la plaza" is either a local branch (of a nationwide bank) in a given city (for the purposes of eventually charging a "fuera de plaza" comission), or in international terms, a local bank in the given country for the purposes you mention

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I think all the answers given are applicable, but I prefer "Local Bank" as it can apply to local branches of international banks whereas domestic bank gives the impression of just a national bank... or so it seems to me. Thanks"

high-street bank

This expression is commonly used in UK English to indicate the branch of a commercial bank (as opposed to an investment or merchant bank usually operating in high finance).
