@ Barbara This particular 'fichier' is in fact just the name of a service.

Think of it like in the UK in the olden days, it might be called 'Somerset House' — which is both a physical place, and an Institution.

@ Ellen For a start, we really shouldn't start out assuming a whole swathe of errors in the source text, just to shoe-horn it into our own interpretation — especially when it is perfectly easy to interpret correctly without needing to assume any errors at all!

Regarding your comment concerning 'sa demande', perhaps you're forgetting here that in FR the possessive pronoun agrees in gender and number with the noun possessed, and not the possessor (as in German).

In France, last wills are not "usually kept by the court's document keeper" — even if one didn't know it before, a very small amount of elementary research soon reveals how the system works here in France.

As for the rest of the sentence, as you say, it is indeed abundanlty clear to professionals in this highly specialized field.

@ Tony. there was not sufficient space left for me to finish my comments. If it read "a été adressé" and if the notary public were a lady, sur "SA" demande would be comprehensible provided the second "e" got lost owing to some oversight (soussignéE). Last wills are usually kept by the court´s document keeper; but fichier doent mean keeper but file. But even if I were right in my assumptions, only the first part of the sentence would be clear. the rest of it is bound to remain unclear at least for non professionals.

Personally, I tend to favour a solution uisng Registry, since as a body, that would indeed be capable of sending out information as described in the context given.

there are more than one regularities in this text. strange last wills (in stead of testaments; plural possible) what puzzles me most of all things is "SA demande" (whose demand ?) it cant be the notary public, and if it were a she notary, the ending woul
