What is a good standing certificate?

A good standing certificate states that a company has been in continuous, unbroken existence since its incorporation and that no action is currently being taken to strike the company off the register and is therefore in 'good standing'.

Can additional details be included on the certificate?

You can also request that any of the following details are added to the certificate,

* Directors names
* Secretaries names
* Registered office
* Issued capital
* Shareholders (names, shareholdings)
* Company objects

Extra information can be requested (e.g. date of birth, nationality etc.)

What criteria must the company comply with for a certificate of good standing certificate to be issued?

The company’s annual Return and accounts must be filed up to date and;
for a private company they must have at least one director who is a natural person*; or
for a public company they must have at least two directors, one of which is a natural person*, and a secretary.

How do I obtain a certificate of good standing?

You can request a certificate from our contact centre on 0303 1234 500, or if you are a Companies House Direct customer you can request one online. Alternatively you can request a certificate from our London, Cardiff or Edinburgh offices. If requested in London or Edinburgh, the request will be forwarded on to Cardiff where the certificate will be processed.
