Coastal trail cabins - Please excuse me, but this makes no sense whatsoever. There is nothing in Norwegian culture or geography that identifies coastal trails, and accordingly no coastal trail cabins.

The client and I finally agreed on "coastal trail cabins".

kystled cottages

Forbundet KYSTEN = A federation for the use and preservation of historical vessels and coastal environment
I think you should check with the client to see if they want kystled translated, if so then cottages by the coast or coastal cottages should do.

A thng to consider is the fact that no Norwegian would ever utter the word 'kystledhytte' in normal speech or writing. It just isn't a Norwegian word, and has no inherent meaning. Translating it is therefore kind of fun, but hardly an exact science.

disagree eodd : Shack implies something that's practically falling down

Coastal cabin would probably be better. Thing is, kystledhytte is not a natural Norwegian word in the first place, so its meaning is kind of elusive.
