Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
In a handwritten medical report from Peru, the diagnosis given as "Virosis epd, B34.9". Based on the fact that B34.9 is the ICD-10 code for "viral infection, unspecified", I'm wondering if "epd" might be some kind of abbreviation for "unspecified", but I'm uncertain of what it stands for exactly. Any suggestions?

More context The only other context I have that might help is that the patient has come to the doctor due to concerns about weight loss she has suffered over the previous 6 months. Patient age is 22. There is no mention of the type of viral infection, and given the ICD 10 code used, it would seem the infection is unspecified.

Or something like "etiología pendiente de determinación" (just a really wild guess)?

The site helps, but . . . The trouble with viral infections are that they are rarely identified outside of big hospitals in developed countries. The testing is just too expensive and since most viral infections are self-limiting, it's usually all you can do to rule-out a bacterial infection and leave it at that.

Some more context ... would help pin down what type of "virosis" it is, since virosis just means a disease caused by a virus. Is there anything else in the report that specifies the site or nature of the virosis?
