Description of maintenance of truck axle
This seems to be a device for measuring the angle. Angle transducer was suggested to me but a photograph of the device seems to be more mechanical than electrical in nature. The section is entitled "Defecte hoekopnamemeter" and the only sentence in it reads: Als de hoekopnamemeter vervangen dient te worden, dan moet de as opnieuw gekalibreerd worden.
The axle is a specially designed modern one designed to control the load on the axle. The sentence occurs in the maintenance section of the operating manual for the axle.

Hi again, John,
Seeing as how you have limited information, I suggest using the more generic term "axle load sensor". If it is mechanical, rather than electrical/electronic, it is probably tied into the pneumatic suspension lines, the hydraulic brake lines or even (via mechanical linkage) to a conventional spring suspension system. A picture of such a part is shown at the web reference I provide below.
Regards,
Ben

Comment: "This seemed to cover what I was trying to say quite well. It was very useful to have a second opinion. Thank you."

angle meter
seems reasonable to me
Note from asker:
Thank you for your quick response, Michael. It is much appreciated. In the end I went for the other alternative (axle load sensor) once I had found out a bit more about the mechanism. Your term would have been a useful alternative without that extra knowledge which I managed to gain in the meantime. Thanks for your invaluable help and support. |
