Spanish term

Boletazo

Spanish to English Other Slang law
This comes from Ecuador. It regards a notice put into the judicial mailbox to appear for trial after the 3-day time period to appeal it was already up. Then the text says, "... es decir, se realizó el famoso BOLETAZO." (caps in the original text). Does anyone have a good English term for this word when used in this context?

Discussion

Richard Hill Jan 24, 2012:
My "answers" are mere references to help in reaching an actual answer in light of the prior lack of context; and now, with the context, it seems you could be on the right lines
Karen Friedman (asker) Jan 24, 2012:
Not sure if these answers get to the point. The writer is upset because this notice gave him no opportunity to contest it. My sense is that he's trying to say that this late notice was a winning ticket for the court whose laisse-faire practices he is protesting against. Does this make sense to you, or does it change your responses?
David Hollywood Jan 24, 2012:
yes Rich ... sounds more like showing up to claim the "biggie" winning ticket
