Hi guys, thanks for your great help, but I'm having considerable trouble seeing this position as "chief prosecutor" - I've seen procurador chefe, which would fit your translation, but this, along with auxiliar de promotoria chefe, etc, seems to be a slightly less lofty position, perhaps even clerical, since they prepare official documents "eu digitei." Is it possible this is a senior/chief clerk in the prosecutor's office??

prosecutor in chief

o 'office' não precisa ser adicionado neste caso, já que um promotor-chefe é um oficial.

agree Muriel Vasconcellos : But I would say "Chief Prosecutor" - 4.3 million hits, vs only 25,00 for "prosecutor in chief"

agree Lesley S, MA : I agree with Muriel also. "In-chief" sounds military to me.

agree Sheryle Oliver : Chief Prosecutor it is.
