English term

tell tale toppiness

English Other Music drum kits
While the Sabian SBR cymbals are brass not bronze, they're many times more refined than the unbranded cymbals often found at this level. The 13" hats are particularly sweet-sounding.
Similarly the 18" crash/ride contains very little tell tale toppiness, executing its two disciplines with an air of polished ease.

Речь идет о тарелках в комплекте уларной установки.

Discussion

Andrew Vdovin (asker) Mar 25, 2012:
Probably native English speakers can explain what "toppiness" is supposed to mean here? I'll appreciate that very much.

predominance of high frequencies

I assume the reason the author says 'teel-tale toppiness' is because s/he is saying that these cymbals are made of a supposedly inferior material (brass), and this fact is often given away by the presence of over-dominant high-frequencies in the cymbal sound — I assume perhaps because brass is maybe less dense than bronze?

Sorry, 'tell-tale toppiness'!

I.e. even though these cymbals are made of brass, they do not suffer from this problem of over-dominant high frequencies.
